Amid escalating tensions, the Ukraine military has acknowledged the intensity of fighting around the frontline city of Chasiv Yar, describing it as "difficult" and "tense," but emphasizing the resilience of its forces.

The conflict has seen increased air attacks from both sides, with Russia reporting that a Ukrainian drone targeted the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which it has occupied since the start of the invasion in 2022.

Ukraine has been urgently requesting the release of a proposed $60 billion aid package from the United States, currently stalled in Congress due to opposition from Republicans.

During a video conference, President Zelensky emphasized the critical importance of this aid, warning that Ukraine's ability to survive the war hinges on it. He urged Congress to understand that without assistance, Ukraine faces the risk of losing the ongoing conflict, which could have broader implications for regional stability.

Zelensky stressed the gravity of the situation, stating, "It would be extremely challenging for Ukraine to endure without this aid. If Ukraine falls, it sets a dangerous precedent for other nations."

As Russia continues its offensive, particularly targeting Chasiv Yar, situated close to the strategic hub of Kramatorsk, Ukrainian forces remain under significant pressure. Oleg Kalashnikov, a spokesman for a deployed army brigade, reported Russian assaults on surrounding towns, further exacerbating the situation.

The conflict's toll on civilians is also evident, with casualties reported in various regions. In Gulyaipole, a Russian strike claimed three lives, while attacks in Kupiansk and Kharkiv resulted in additional fatalities and injuries.

Additionally, a Ukrainian drone reportedly struck the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, heightening concerns about potential risks to the facility's integrity.
