Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has spoken out following the FA Cup semi-final loss to Manchester City, after he was seen in tears on the Wembley pitch at full-time.
Silva played the entire 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat, with Bernardo Silva scoring the decisive goal in the 84th minute. The 39-year-old's contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season, so unless he extends his deal in the coming months, he could leave Chelsea without having won any domestic silverware.
He couldn't conceal his disappointment at the final whistle, with videos and pictures showing Thiago Silva visibly emotional on the pitch after the game. The Chelsea defender later took to Instagram to express his feelings.
Sharing a photo of himself after the match, Silva wrote: “It is difficult to describe in words what I feel now. We are very sorry we didn't make it; we left everything on the pitch.
Thiago Silva has been with Chelsea since arriving on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2020. During his tenure with the Blues, he has achieved Champions League glory in 2021, but he has yet to win a domestic trophy with the club.
