"One step away"— Napoli's Victor Osimhen appears poised to turn down Chelsea in favor of a move to a potential Champions League-winning team.

Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor James Osimhen, is on the verge of joining a new club in the summer after leaving Napoli. The 25-year-old enjoyed a remarkable season with Napoli last year, contributing significantly to the team's historic first Scudetto win in over three decades.

Victor Osimhen's remarkable success at Napoli has attracted the attention of several top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester United. However, the £113 million release clause in his contract has proven to be a substantial barrier for many interested parties.

Chelsea, in particular, has shown interest in the Nigerian striker to address their issues with goal scoring, particularly given Nicolas Jackson's lack of consistency in front of goal. However, it seems that Osimhen might be heading to Paris to replace the outgoing Kylian Mbappe.

According to the Italian daily newspaper Il Mattino, Osimhen is "one step away" from joining PSG, with Napoli waiting for the French club to meet the striker's hefty release clause. Over the past week, Osimhen hinted that he is preparing for an emotional farewell with Napoli fans next month, further fueling speculation about his move.

This development comes as a disappointment for Chelsea and some of their notable figures, including club legends John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba, who have publicly expressed their admiration for Osimhen, hoping to entice him to join the two-time UEFA Champions League winners.

Despite missing part of the season due to injuries, Osimhen has been a crucial player for Napoli, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists in 28 games this season. His impressive performance has only intensified the interest of major European clubs in securing his signature.
