Player Ratings: Bayern Munich 2-2 Real Madrid - 2024 UEFA Champions League Semi-Final

Vini JR and Toni Kroos stand out in the first leg away in Munich.

Andriy Lunin — 6.5: Immediately called into action at the start of the game with a big save against Leroy Sane. However, he could have done more to stop Sane’s goal later in the second half, as the ball beat him at his near post.

Lucas Vazquez — 5: Coming off his strong El Clasico performance, Lucas struggled to maintain that level. Jamal Musiala proved to be a constant threat, and Lucas fouled the young German in the box, leading to a penalty.

Antonio Rudiger — 6: Tasked with tracking Thomas Muller and Harry Kane's movements. Kane managed to slip into deeper positions at times, causing trouble for the Real Madrid defense.

Nacho Fernandez — 6: Played 65 minutes before being replaced by Eduardo Camavinga, with Tchouameni moving to center back. The Bayern front line of Sane, Musiala, Muller, and Kane was challenging to contain.

Ferland Mendy — 5.5: Leroy Sane was able to get the better of the Frenchman in several one-on-one duels. Mendy had a bandage on his leg, raising questions about his fitness for the match.

Fede Valverde — 6: Played on the right side of a midfield four but was forced into defensive positions for much of the game. Had an interesting duel with Leon Goretzka, who has similar characteristics to Valverde.

Toni Kroos — 8.5: When Real Madrid was under pressure, Kroos delivered a brilliant vertical pass through the heart of the Bayern defense to an on-running Vinicius Junior. It was classic Kroos, resulting in one of the assists of the season.

Aurélien Tchouameni — 7: Started as a defensive midfielder but ended up as a center back. His long-range passing stood out, completing four out of four, including a cross-field pass to Vinicius Junior that led to Real Madrid's late penalty.

Jude Bellingham — 6: Earned a dangerous free kick just outside the box after beating out Mazaraoui to the ball. Made one key pass and completed two dribbles but may feel he could have had a greater impact on the match.

Vinicius Junior — 9: Proved lethal and composed in front of goal. His movement was outstanding, scoring two goals away from home against one of the best teams in the world. Vinicius Junior is a top-three player in the world, especially in high-stakes matches.

Rodrygo Goes — 6: Started on the left but moved to the right flank in the second half. Had limited impact but drew the crucial penalty late in the game with his skillful body movement.

Substitutions:

Eduardo Camavinga — 6: Initially struggled to get into the rhythm of the game but eventually found his footing.

Luka Modric — 7: Played a perfect looping ball over the top of the Bayern defense to Vinicius Junior, who couldn't convert the chance.

Brahim Diaz — N/A: Limited minutes with only twelve touches and two completed passes.

Joselu — N/A: Played the final three minutes and contributed a few flicks that retained possession and drew fouls from Bayern defenders.
