However, the transfer window in Turkey remains open until September 13, and Galatasaray, facing a shortage of options at center forward due to Mauro Icardi's injury, is looking to bolster their squad. Galatasaray announced on Instagram late Monday that they are in official talks with SSC Napoli regarding Osimhen's temporary transfer.
Osimhen, who was instrumental in Napoli's Serie A title win in 2023 with 26 goals, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. He has not been participating in Napoli's training sessions recently, especially after the club secured Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea—reuniting him with Antonio Conte, with whom he previously won Serie A at Inter Milan.
At 25, Osimhen still has a lot of years left to play top-level soccer. Known for his aerial prowess and face mask, he has scored a total of 76 goals in 133 matches across all competitions for Napoli since joining in a club-record €70 million four years ago.
Osimhen grew frustrated last season when Napoli finished 10th during its title defense — a campaign in which he scored 15 Serie A goals.
At Galatasaray, Osimhen would be reunited with Napoli's all-time leading scorer Dries Mertens.
