Chelsea Decide Ben Chilwell's Future Amid Fenerbahce Links and Uncertainty Under Enzo Maresca

Chelsea are ready to send out of favour defender Ben Chilwell on loan to Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce.

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have decided to let Ben Chilwell leave the club, with the possibility of a loan move to Turkey. The England left-back was informed earlier in the summer that he was not part of new manager Enzo Maresca's plans. Although Chilwell was linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge during the open window, no deal materialized.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

At this point, Turkey remains the only viable destination for Chilwell, as their transfer window is open until September 18. If he is unable to secure a move, he will be required to train away from Chelsea's first team for up to four months until the January window opens. The defender has been associated with a move to Fenerbahce, managed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, though no official offer has been received from any Turkish Super Lig club.

DID YOU KNOW?

Chelsea are keen to offload Chilwell permanently due to his £200,000-a-week salary, but it is unlikely that any club would agree to take on such high wages. As a result, a loan deal appears to be the most feasible option at the moment.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR CHELSEA?

Maresca's side has earned four points from their first three Premier League matches and will return to action after the international break against Bournemouth on September 14.
